Black & Decker Does Not Honor Warranty

Purchased a Black & Decker Shredder, SKU #BD-10P from HoMedics. Apparantly, HoMedics has purchased the right to use the Black & Decker name brand.

HoMedics states in writing on the owner's manual that this product is under warranty for one year from the purchase date. Moreover, the cutter blades are under warranty for as long as one owns the machine.

Six weeks after I purchased this item, it quit working. When I called HoMedics at their customer service number, they suggested I return the item to the store where I purchased it for a refund. This was not possible, as the store only allowed 30 day refunds and exchanges. When I informed HoMedics of this, they told me there was nothing else that could be done on their part. Huh? What about their warranty?

When I repeated my claim and demanded they honor their warranty, they offered to take a look at the shredder, if I could ship it to them AT MY EXPENSE! This machine weighs about 25 Lbs and would cost close to $50 to ship it to them. Even then, HoMedics said there is no guarantee they would repair or replace the shredder.

Reputable companies will ALWAYS reimburse shipping charges, when their product proves to be defective. An example of this is Ray-O-Vac. If their batteries damage your flashlight, they will replace the flashlight, give you new batteries, AND pay shipping BOTH ways.

In additions to not honoring their warranty, HoMedics employees are rude in dealing with customers.

DO NOT buy anything fro HoMedics! They are a Rip-Off, and their products are junk!

HoMedics will not honor their written warranty.
