Shops, Products, Services

I am a former employee, who was recently terminated for not being a very good employee. My own fault, no big deal. However, the company has undertaken some very large contracts involving access control, in order to try and gain a foothold in the access control market. The problem lies with how they are going about it: by severly underbidding, in order to get the contract, then relying on people who are not properly trained, or even qualified, to get the installation done.

Now, beyond the fact that the installers are getting badly mistreated in all this, is the customers who are getting the short end, and they dont even know it. Some have complained, I personally had the pleasure of one such customers very legitimate rant, and I had to lie through my teeth to make this customer feel better about the product they had spent lots of thousands of dollars on. Not only that, but I was sent there to troubleshoot a problem without ever having been there, and with no knowledge of the layout, equipment locations, or even the kinds of wire used.

This company cuts so many corners trying to save money, that they end up losing money in the end, and the customers suffer. Sales people who convince customers to upgrade equipment at significant cost, then when the tech arrived to install it finds that the required software upgrade was not sold. How many customers had smiles on their faces when told they had to spend another $4-6 THOUSAND on software they should have been quoted on initially!

To their credit, when it has become obvious to a customer that LINSTAR is not all it claims to be, LINSTAR has eaten the cost of replacement equipment and the needed software upgrades, in order to placate an angry customer. But that is a rare occasion, and one that I was involved with may have been part of the driving force behind my termination, because I really did have the customers best interests at heart, and management got prickly whenever that came up.

This company has its hands in a lot of government cookie jars, legitimately. But has been very devious and deceptive when it comes to the big money involved with its forray into the access control market.
