Early Termination Fee RipOff to Loyal Customers

Our contract with Sprint was up the first of July of 07. We have been 2 year multiple contract customers in the past.

In June my wife called Sprint and asked them if there was anyway for us to keep our contract with Sprint until expiration, but port our numbers to a new carrier. "No problem, " the rep said. "We'll just assign you temporary numbers, go head and pay your July bill and all will be just fine." My wife specifically asked, "Ok... So there will be no early termination fees, correct?" "Yes, that is correct the rep responded." "And we can keep our present numbers, right?" "Yes, that is correct."

About 2 weeks later we receive a bill in the mail with a $300 early termination fee from Sprint. They had a notation of conversation with my wife, but conveniently there was of course no mention of the details. Same song with all the reps we spoke with, "We're sorry one of our reps gave you erroneous information - but you owe us $300.."

Ridiculous!
