Spent More Time Arguing and Overcharged Me For It, Broke a Lot of My Stuff, Little Compensation for Loss ripoff

GSM moved my belonging to a new residence on 1/27/07. They started at 10:00am with one truck and three men. After serious delays, including two of the movers having a very loud argument at the front door of my new apartment, they finally finished at 9:30pm.

After the argument I told them to just get the furniture inside and forget about putting anything else together and just leave. I was worried about the management coming to see what the loud argument was about.

Afterwards, I found that there were numerous items that were broken or torn. The supervisor of the three workers gave me paperwork to sign when they first arrived and told me where to sign and then took the paperwork (he was a Spanish gentleman whose English was not very good). He never even told me that additional coverage was available and I got no chance to read the paperwork. I have several antique family heirlooms (one of which the mirror was broken and is irreplaceable).

I would have certainly broadened my coverage. I made a claim almost immediately with the company and have waited and waited for a resolution. I have left numerous messages with the Claims Dept to no avail. I received a letter in early March that the claim would be resolved by 3/15. It was not. I am now trying to contact someone in their corporate office to help. I have found even more damage in the weeks since my move than I reported in the claim.

These are things that were not readily apparent until I started putting things away and decorating my apartment. The claim that I made I belive was limited to $300.00 because I didn't get the chance to buy additional coverage. I made a claim for $474.00. My actual damages amount to much much more than $474.00 and I will probably only get the $300.00. This is not fair.
