I received a letter from WORLD COM Wireless offering a free phone, etc. 150 anytime minutes, 400 weekend and night - free long distance from area code, voice mail, etc. Etc. I called and explained I had a specific location I needed use of the phone and the salesman said "no problem" just contact us and we'll send another phone, switch your carrier, whatever it takes to satisfy you.
Well when I called I discovered they DID NOT DO THAT at all - that once phone was activated, they never changed the carrier and there was FINE PRINT in a paper in the box re: only 15 min useage, I WAS RUDELY TOLD - it's all yours if you cancel you will owe about $500, etc.
To make a long story short - I talked to a rep who told me that I could have 250 anytine minutes for same price (something new and I took it) Later I needed to talk with them and a customer rep said I did not have long distance free!!! What a shocker - now I get two letters from them, one to send a copy of the original contract which is their advertisement and one that they sold out to AT & T -
I am so so hoping and praying that AT & T has to give a window of opportunity for cancellation without penalty as it appears I need Sprint as my carrier for the location I visit every weekend in order to "stay in touch with
my elderly mother and disabled son.
Every time you talk to someone at World Com - it was a different story - they are never consistent for their employees were not trained well I assume. Also, the sales people are FRIENDLY AND AGREEABLE and the customer service are rude and hateful - what a way to run a company.
I feel sorry for all who lost with their downfall - and I have had good dealings with AT & T - so I'm hopeful they will remain their integrity and let me out of a contract that is useless to me.
