Ripoff I have a huge water leak at my house in a big pit and it's leaking on both sides it's making my water bill go up I have not the money to fix it I'm suppose to find someone to dig a new pit and pay for it. I don't think it's right!

I Have a major water leak in this pit out in my yard. It's leaking on both sides and it ran 3,000 gallons of water out in one month. The stop box is broke on on and they are the ones who broke it. My water bill for 2 months is $500.00 anyway i called them and a plumber to come loook at it. They can't shut it off ever no matter how high my water bill is and matter how many disconnect notices I get. Anyway they decided to take off the amount I owe for the suer and that they would pay for all the materials like the pipes, fittings, and bricks and I would pay for someone to dig the a trench and a new pit but that would cost more. I don't have the money to fix it and they don't want to because it goes to 4 city blocks of people and if they get in there to dig it, it's hard telling what they will get into. They would have to dig it to everyones house that it goes to. There are pipes running in every direction in there and it would cost the city to much to fix it although on my side it wouldn't cost that much to just fix the pipes, but they would have to shut it off, to do this, I mean I could even fix it, but if they shut it off for me to fix mine, it could be a desaster so I don't know what to do but, I think they should fix it and pay for it. The pipes are also old and they've been soderd and B. J welded a million times to prevent this.in the mean time my water still going up and I haven't been paying it because I can't. Also I'm only 40 yrs old and my husband was killed in a car wreck 7 months ago. I just don't think It's right what, they are doing to me. I want it fix or turned off so I can fix it.
