Major Moving Ripoff

I contracted a move from Sacramento, CA to Atlanta, GA with Budget Van Lines in June 06. I thought this was a reputable and well known company; shouldn't have any problems. Turns out they subcontracted to BK's who showed up literally at the 11th hour at the end of their 3-day pickup window - 11 P.M. At night! They finished loading about 7 A.M. The next morning and THEN informed me that my move will cost more than $3,000 over the price originally quoted! Days turned into weeks and weeks into months.

Call after call went unanswered. I thought my belongings were gone forever. Finally, I received the majority of my belongings in September 06. Many items were damaged and still many more large items were missing entirely. Many, many phone calls and many, many weeks later, I received another shipment of items they'd found in October 07. The owner left me with a promise to check his warehouse and w/in 3 days produce pictures of items found in an attempt to locate my missing items. As of the writing of this review, I've heard absolutely nothing!

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY! The movers themselves were very nice. The folks I spoke to on the phone were nice enough. But the timeliness of returning calls was poor. And the timeliness of delivery my items was beyond poor. I was forced to buy many items in order to live for nearly two months without the bare necessities - for a family of eight no less! I'd like to hear from anyone who has received this type of service from this company. I am very interested in possibly joining forces for a class suit. BK's has got to be held accountable!
