Ripoff Offered to find me employment after my payment and the company they provided does not pay for their services Norfolk

I went to Virginia Personnel, found them through an ad in the paper. I was lead to believe that they were the ones hiring. When I met up with them, it turned out to be a company that works like a staffing agency. I went ahead and gave them a deposit of 160 dollars and gave them a post dated check of 205 dollars for the remainder of the whole amount they charge to find me employment. Only because of my desperation to find a job.

That next week I set up about 3 appointments with the service specialist, they could not find me employment that's why I had to reschedule with them twice. The third time, I called they offered the name Area Circulation who was hiring for customer service and administration. So I called the place and they set me up with an interview but I got lost finding the place, map quest did not give me accurate directions. I called Va Personnel figured they would have the directions since they are the ones referring me to this company that is hiring but they too couldn't offer me directions.

I went home and decided to just try again tomorrow and rescheduled with the company. I looked over the classified section of the newspaper because I was losing my hope that Va personnel would be able to find me a job even though they assured me that they would within a week. I called several places and set up interviews at 2 places for the next day, one was at Williamsburg Plantation and Area Circulation. Yes, the same company they tried to refer me to was also advertised in the ad. So I called area circulation to see if it was the same company and scheduled another interview with them.

I ended up getting hired at Area Circulation to be the administrative assistant of all departments, Human Resources!!! By then I figured that VA personnel have no connection with area circulation. But I called them and they processed my check anyway even though they knew that I still haven't found a job. I figured I would just pay them anyway. Until the last week, we received a lot of calls from people saying that they were being referred by Va Personnel and my Boss caught on that this place is using Area Circulation to rip people off who are already unemployed to begin with.

She told me that they don't pay for personnel services. They are basically going through the ads and making people think that companies actually pay them to refer people for them. At this point I don't care about getting my deposit back but I don't want them in my credit and for them to keep processing my check. I need help, I want to know if there's anything that can be done because I went to them and put my trust in them believing that they were going to place me in a job. I basically paid for services that I've been doing myself which was going through the ad. And the fact that they started referring more people to Area Circulation is because they knew I got hired. It's not fair what they are doing to people, they had no connection with Area Circulation nor does Area Circulation pay for their services.in fact my boss was ready to take legal action because they spend a lot of money posting ads in the paper for people to look at them and get hired through them.
