Rude staff refused book return despite receipt

I bought some book for our church library and when I got them to church we had duplicates.

I put the purchases on a walmart credit card and saved the receipt

I bought the books on Saturday and returned them on Monday

When I brought the books to the front counter the lady was very rude from the get go

I explained we over bought books brand new all tags were in place no damage anywhere and I had the receipt

She told me it was common knowledge that I could not return books it was illegal she said

I said if returning books are illegal surely that would be in plain sight on the policy board

I asked to see the policy and they had me wait 30 minutes why they look something up that was not the written policy but tried to pass it off as the policy

I kept telling them the policy stated refunds with receipts within so many days

The lady called for back up and even the asst. Manager turned me away

I asked for them to please post it in plain sight like the rest of the policy "Books All Sales final" they were at this point treating me like I was an idiot

I got home and called bookstores and asked if it was illegal to return books and they said no if with a receipt in with in the time frame

I even called 2 other walmart stores and they told me to bring the books back they would refund them

I then called and asked for the district manager and the store manager intercepted the call and asked the problem

I proceeded to explain the problem and he then told me I could bring the books and he would make a 1 time exception

This is common practice at this store and the time it cost me was not even worth getting the refund

I just want justice

I just want the policy to be the policy and ill trained associates are everywhere at this store

If it goes at this walmart shouldn't it go at every walmart?

What the deal

Walmart caused undue stress on me
They treated me like I was stupid
Then when I wanted to take action they changed there story

What a rip off
