I am a 32 year old teacher/Graphic Artist in Atlanta, Georgia. I was unfortunate enough to purchase a Maltese puppy from Patricia Gibbens in Warner Robins, Georgia. My puppy is named Marley. As I understand, some others also purchased a puppy from Pat. She is not who you think she is.

She lied to me about my puppy, and now cheated me out of $500.00. Now she is irate and is only concerned about her reputation as a breeder. She is not concerned about the puppies she breeds at all. For some strange reason she thinks I am trying to pull something over on her. I paid her my hard earned money and the only thing she did for me was give to me a puppy with a congenital disease.

Let me inform you of my situation. This is my first puppy and the experience was horrible. My puppy is the oldest of three. His parents are Annie and Maestro. If you purchased any puppies from Annie's litter please beware.

I was originally quoted 800.00 over the phone for Marley akaBarkley. I understand that you all were charged $1100 & $1200 for the other puppies. I think she knew something all along or else, why the low cost? I mailed her a $400.00 deposit about a week before picking up my puppy.

Anyway, the Thursday before I was to come and pick Marley up, she called to tell me that she had to take Marley to the vet because he had a limp in his back right leg. She went on as to how sorry she wasblah, blah, blah. And that she hated to call and give me this horrible news. Nevertheless, my boyfriend and I went to see the puppy at her house.

When we got there the puppy was limping and his dew claw was missing from his back right paw. I questioned her about this and she said she wasn't sure how it happened. She was at work. She also said that the vet said that he was too small to do X-rays on and that this may be something he may grow out of or may have a limp for the rest of his life. Then she said only asked for 100.00 more.

Believing that she was a reputable and reliable older lady, I believed that he would grow out of this limp. So I agreed to purchase him for $100.00 more. Okay I could deal with a limp, but I was not prepared for what my vet in Georgia told me. He said Marley has a congenital disease known as Cerebellar Hypoplasia. This was the worst news a puppy owner could here.

My vet told me that Marley could never be bred (not that I was going to, but I don't have a choice now anyway), and that his brothers and sisters should be checked also. This disease was contracted in the womb. His mother had parvo or some other kind of disease before or during her pregnancy.

Nevertheless, Marley is a happy little boy, with all the toys and love he can receive. Pat has been very vicious and wicked with her words toward me concerning this problem and has accused me of harassment if I contact her again.

Please be aware of who you are doing business with!!
