Bill "Rick" Bartmann ripoff Puppy Mill Selling Sick Puppies

In October I contacted Bartmann regarding a litter of rottweiler puppies that he had advertised on Nextdaypets.com. He seemed very knowledgeable of the breed and told me the dog was show quality and purebred papered rottweiler. He said that I had to give him an answer right away if I wanted the pup since he had numerous other phone calls on him and he was the last one left. I asked him what was wrong with the dog since he was the last on left and he told me he was the first dog picked out of the litter, but the person had to back out of the deal. I acted quick, too quick and bought the pup and two days later I picked him up at the airport. The pup did not come with any shot records or papers. The only information I received was the ag inspection from Oklahoma. I contacted Bartmann and he told me that he included the papers and I must had lost them. He was very agitated that he had to fax the information to me. I would have been better off if I would have just started the vaccination series over.

Exactly two days after receiving the pup he became violently ill. I had to rush the pup to the vet. He was almost dead. He had shallow breathing and was almost unconscious. The vet thought it was Parvo but was having trouble administering the parvo test. I contacted Bartmann and he was unbelievable. He told me that his dogs don't have parvo. He wouldn't listen to a word that I said. All he could say to me was the dog didn't have parvo. Needless to say the pup did not have parvo. He had such an unbelievable case of worms his intestines were failing. He had every type of worm a dog could have. He even had a type of worm that was associated with fleas from the mother dog. The vet informed me that the mother dog could not have been properly dewormed. She said the worms will stay dormant in the mother's muscle tissue and they are released into her milk and passed to the pups. My pup endured 3 major intestinal surgeries and medical treatment for 7 days. I have vet bills over $8000.00. I ended all conversations with Bartmann immediately. He just wanted to me to put the dog to sleep. I am not an inhumane person.

I am currently pursing Bartmann in a legal matter. There is no one in Mounds that will stop him. I spoke to an investigator at the Sheriff's office and got nowhere. I talked to the Humane Society and they are very aware of what he is doing but they don't have the resources to stop him.

I know people will ask why did I spend the money? How can you not. It is an innocent pup that you fall in love with the second you get them.

My pup is healthy and happy now. It was a miracle that he survived, and he is the best pup you could ask for. It has nothing to do with the breeder, it is all based on how I have cared for him.

All I can say is do not buy from him.
