I was a dish network customer of five years with only one reciever in my house. A dish network telemarketer called me one evenging and offered an upgrade so that I could watch one station while recording another. This unit is known as a DVR system.

On November I recieved the DVR from DISH after installing the device I was unable to record one station while watching another. Not long after receiving the DVR we had hardware failure on the out side dish and a nice young tech was sent to replace the faulty part. While he was there I asked him to show me how to record one station while watching another.

It didn't take long for him to inform me that I had an older model DVR it was not designed to support this feature.in short I needed a newer model. He contacted Dish Network's main office for me and was informed the model I was promised would be sold to me as an upgrade. To say the least I was very angry and decided to end my subscription when I reached the end of my contract with Dish. When the time came I did just that. A very short time after the cancellation I was contacted by an assiciate of Dish. They wanted to know why I would leave after 5 years... I wonder, Do any of the employee's write notes in the customer's files.

Well after explaining what had happened she seemed very concerned. She also seemed sincere when she stated that I was considered a valued customer and she would like to offer me everything I had originally been offered.in fact she would send another DVR of the same model and have it setup in the bedroom thus ensuring I could record one station and watch another as had first been promised. She assured me this time it would be different she worked in this so called winback program that could and would do everything whithin thier power to make me a satisfied customer.

Welll I was foolish enough to give Dish a second chance. Why not everythng was still there no removing one dish replacing it with another. How could I go wrong... Famous last words right...

I was told that a manager would accompany the tech out to my house and supervise the installation and be sure I was totally satisfied before leaving. Well as fate would have it I received a second DVR of the same modem via UPS. I phoned DISH and was informed that technical could assist me with the simple installation and if needed a tech would be dispatched. It wasn't long before I was informed by support that the unit was faulty and would have to be returned. "Just my luck" I had to pack the unit and send it back to Dish. The second DVR arrived a week or so later and it too was faulty quote "This is very unusual". Once again I had to pack the DVR and return it. This time I informed technical support that I did not want to spend another evening trouble shooting and installing DVR's and to please send a tech out to install the next DVR. They agreed.

Well a little over a week the same nice young man that had originally informed me of the outdated equipment showed up to install the second DVR that had previously arrived via UPS and presently still in it's box.

Upon opening the box he informed me that he had previously stated this DVR system will not provide the functionality and a newer model DVR is the only way to go. You cannot have two of these type DVR's on the same coax. Needless to say he was as upset as I and he called Dish after a few strong words with Dish he said there was nothing he could do and these people are nuts.

After all this I no longer wanted to speak to DISH again. I asked them to discontinue my services and send shipping labels so I could return their DVR. No lables ever arrived so I called again and again I was told lables have been shipped. After three weeks I was contacted by a collection agency. They informed me that I owe 494.49 for unreturned equipment belonging to DISH. After this wonderful conversation I took it upon myself to ship the remaining DVR to DISH. I contacted DISH and provided them with the with the tracking number but that was not the end. They now say I owe installation charges and for the time I had the DVR's even though the units were not functioning as promised.

And for the record I never once had a manager show up at my home to make sure I was satisfied.
