Ripoff unauthorized billing

Upon noticing a $39.00 charge in process in my account, I researched the reference attached to the charge. It said TWX Magazine - 18007733142. Well, I knew I haven't subscribed to any new magazines lately, nor did my husband so I decided to call this number. Well, turns out it's automated ALL THE WAY THROUGH. Never once did it offer a customer service choice in it's options! I called numerous times, just to see if the options ever changed. I even had my husband listen to see if maybe it was me or if there WAS really no human contact with this number.

After frustrating phone calls to 1-800-773-3142, I finally contacted my bank to dispute a charge. Unfortunately, my back (Citibank) is rather slow. They said they would watch this transaction and I could file a claim against them. And then, to stop any future billings (just to be sure this didn't happen a gain), my bank suggested to cancel the credit card used. So, to be on the safe side, I did just that. Cancelled the card and was sent a new card overnight.

Of course, they forgot to tell me that everything linked with that card would be blocked as well - my online banking, billpay, even the 800 account servicing number. Well, what else can I do... So I did a little more investigation. Found tons and tons of usacomplaints.com on them and came across one that said to be patient and just say no to all the menu options when calling the customer service line. Well, after 20 minutes saying no, customer service, and just plain making gibberish noises - the automated service FINALLY SAID, "I will now transfer to customer service."

After 3 days of trying to get ahold of someone, I was finally waiting for a real person. Well, talking to customer service took about 5 minutes, basically requesting a refund for a magazine I did not authorize a renewel. That was easy, of course it will take two to three billing cycles before that happens. I would suggest all consumers to stay away from any magazine retailer online, usually method of payment is credit card. I would rather go back to the old fashion way and send in a stub with a check.
