Unauthorized withdrawals from checking account ripoff

In the beginning of September I attempted to get a payday loan off of a website. After applying I decided not to take the loan because of how much the payback was. Now, 3 whole weeks later, a $149.99 charge was taken out of my checking account for a company called, USA Credit.

The charge on my checking account included a 800 number (1-800-685-9354), so I called them immediately. The person I spoke to was nice, but informed me that the account was opened via a 3-way agreement online. I canceled my account, but what told that I could not get a refund. I was given the number of someone else, a Jacklyn Joseph at 1-800-447-1252.

I called this number and got a voice mail. At this point I was all ready a half an hour late for work, so I stopped ranting for awhile.

However, once I got to work I just got more upset over this. I called my bank, and was instructed how to dispute the transaction and did everything they said. Luckily, my back is very friendly, and assured me that it might take a week or so, but that they would most likely credit my account the $149.99.

With that taken care of I decided to check the Better Business Bureau, and low and behold, they have had 369 complaints in the past 36 months for this very same behaivor. Now they will have 370.

The most interesting thing on the BBB report, was that they stated that the company had a "unconditional 30 day cancellation and refund policy."

With this knowledge I called USA Credit again, and mentioned this policy, and the person (again nice) said immediately, "I can refund this for you!" Weird huh? So they have now stated that my account will be credited the $149.99 within 7 business days.

Bottom line, USA Credit is a horrible company, that preys on people who are all ready having money problems (payday loan applicants), and takes advantage, and sneaks their services into other applications. So, DON'T EVER give your checking account information to anyone/anything online. It's just not worth it.

Now I'll just wait and see if I actually get the money back from them.
