Rental Application Fee Scam

Shore Rental Service is a Rental Service in Norfolk who by the looks of it specializes in Ripping hard working people off for their money. I applied for a 1 bedroom apartment that was listed online. A lady called me back very eager to show me the apartment so I complied. We met at the apartment which was fairly decent for the price. She gave me an application and told me where to bring it along with a 32$ application fee and that after that I would have a desision within 24 hrs.

I did exactly what she said and took the money where she told me along with the application fee which I know is routine procedure for any complex. 6 days later I didn't hear from them and said okay maybe I'll call and see if their missing something and just to confirm. The lady I spoke with said everything looks great and we're just waiting on a rental reference from your current landlord. She also told that they had left messages with my landlord about the faxing the reference over to them.

I gave him a call and gave him their fax info to send it over. He called me to confirm. I know the reference was superb because He had written me references before. I've never been late on rent, disturbed the peace, etc and I asked the lady could she call me to confirm she'd received the reference and she told me if she wasn't busy. At this point honestly I didn't want to rent from a company who treats prospective tenants this way but I felt like I deserved an answer. A simple yes or no! Guess what i met all their criteria yet they gave me the run around for 2 weeks for something i was told would only take 24 hrs. I would've even gave a week but it's been 2weeks and i've gotten no answer about why. I honestly believe these people specialize in taking people's money and giving them the run around. That's wrong. If they rent to people then people should know what to expect.
i suggest to don't bother.
