Canceled in Trial Period but Charged $24.95 Monthly

I applied with Yahoo Personals for their "free seven day trial" period. I canceled within the trial period, and then I saw a charge of $24.95 on my bank account.

I went to all kinds of different Yahoo websites, sending complaints, requesting cancellation, and requesting a refund. I finally received an answer to one of them (there were so many that I do not know which one). It requested a reply with my information.

I replied to the email, and they told me that my birthday was incorrect! I only have one birthday, and I am pretty sure I know it. I emailed them to let them know that I was getting fed up because by this time they had taken another payment of $24.95. I told them I was going to notify the BBB.

Then I got another email the next day giving me a phone number to call. It is the same number listed in another report, and that consumer stated that it just rang and rang, so I don't know how far that will go, but I just received the email today, so I will see tomorrow.

I work all day, every day on the computer and on the internet for my job. I know how to get around the internet, and I found it extremely difficult to cancel. As a matter of fact, it still isn't canceled because I don't know my birthday. I have reported them to the BBB, so I will see what happens, and I am going to take the advice from the others who have filed reports and call my bank and dispute the charges.

I would not recommend using Yahoo Personals or any paid services through Yahoo. I am not the only one I know personally who got taken. My mother also signed up at the same time I did, and the exact same thing happened to her. I would definitely be interested if an attorney would like to take up a suit against Yahoo Personals.
