Holds bankruptcy against you even if you don't file on them

I filed bankruptcy in may of this year and went to court earlier this month. I did not include any of my regular utilities on the bankruptcy. Well i call today to make payment arrangments because of my mother in laws half of the bill and they tell my i can't make payment arrangments because of the bankruptcy. I told them i didn't see what that had to do with anything, i've always paid my bills with them i did not include them on my bankruptcy. All they could do was give me the number of the bankruptcy department of cingular. And tell me to pay it and i may be lucky not to have the phones shut off because it was just due yesterday.

Well, then they proceeded to tell me that i couldn't make payment arrangements because it was a new account. Uh, hello i've had the account and same number since september i suddenly have a new account number for some odd reason they no one can explain. The only thing i can think of that has happened was my husband had an old bill with cingular and we put that on the bankruptcy. I asked to speak with a manager and they told me that would make the situation worse. I don't know how it could make it worse, i just don't understand. If I had defaulted on payment arrangements before or if it was drastically late BUT i haven't and it was just due yesterday! And what gives cingular the right to switch my account number with no notification at all? Not a phone call, not a letter, not even an email!
