Pool Heater Claim Denied as Pre-Existing After Eight Years of Coverage

I've been with First American Home Buyers Protection for over eight years. I called them on July 13th, because my pool heater was not turning on. They dispatched a pool repair company to come and inspect the heater. The technician came on July 18th, inspected the unit and informed us that he needed to order some parts that were not functioning properly and get authorization from AHA.

Two days later I heard that my claim was denied because supposedly the heater and the gas connections/valves were not installed properly and that constitute pre-existing condition. I have had Southern California Gas Company turn on my heater for the last 8 years and they had never mentioned anything about incorrect installation.

I have been paying for this coverage for 8 years and the one time I have a claim they deny it for a reason that doesn't make sense. I thought I was alone until I read all the other posts. This company needs to be taught a lesson and learn that they can not cheat their way out of paying for valid claims. Since I live in Southern California I intend to file a lawsuit in small claims court.
