American Home Shield Bogus, Fraudulent, incompetent, deplorable excuse for a business. Ripoff

One week after moving into my home the downstairs central AC unit stopped functioning. A report was filed with AHS and they sent someone out to investigate. The technician reported to me that the compressor had "locked up" and I had "big problems." Fine. I asked what it would take to rectify the problem and he said he would have to report back to AHS.

An hour later I called AHS and the technician had reported that the unit could not have been working when the house was purchased, that the top panel had been removed and "tampered with" prior to his arrival and that there were "pre-existing oil stains on the concrete pad." Result: no coverage. All this despite the fact that I had documentation from a home inspection that indicated that the unit was in normal operating condition at the time of purchase of the home.

I hired another company, had the unit replaced to the tune of 3500.00 and now am enjoying a cool, comfortable home.By the way, when the new AC unit was installed a new concrete pad was included and the old one was removed. There were no oil stains.

AHS is a rip off. With the number of complaints against them, why hasn't something been done to shut them down? Hoe about a class action lawsuir??
