Ripoff, dishonest billing, threatening, held goods hostage, smashed my goods, intimidation, demanding moneyn with menace

I used All My Sons Moving as they claimed to be a local family run business who only used there own team members and no outside contractors. I explained I wanted to keep down my costs and their representative suggested an hourly rate rather than an all in package to me as he said it would be cheaper for me.

I could not pack anything myself as I had recently had a spinal fusion operation. They arrived on the first day and very slowly began to pack somewhat haphazardly from one room to the next without finishing each task before moving to the next.

At the end of day one they had hardly packed even half the house and I was very worried about the time it had taken. There only english speaking operative relayed to me that they did not realize they were supposed to be packing and that they had sent out movers not packers! Odd since it was clear on the estimated that they were packing. They demanded payment at the end of that day which I though was odd as they had not finished.

Day two they continued and I could see by lunchtime that there was no way they would be finished by the end of the day and we were already up to over $3000 dollars. I telephoned there owner who called me a "bitch" and the leader of the team at the house threatened that he would take my stuff and throw it all over the road and smash it up. They tried to charge me $115 per hour instead of the $105 per hour on the estimate.

After loads of arguing they agreed to charge $105 per hour and stated that this was a "discount"!! They told me verbally that there would be no further charge to move it into my new home after storage. I was so upset and worried at the cost that I had to let them leave to put my stuff into storage although they had not completely finished after two whole days in a 2500 sq ft home with three of them.

They tried to charged me for stairs which I did not have and a stop off at another address which they did not do. I ended up having to hire a van and friends, a storage unit for the remainder of the goods. This cost me well over $2,000. They stored my goods for a year and I paid in advance for my storage. I did not pay from January 15th until February 2nd as I had paid in advance. When my move out of storage came and I gave them a move date they failed to complete the move as their forklift broke down. The move was re organised for three days later.

When they arrived they would not even open the van until they had been paid in full for the move and wanted me to sign documents stating all the goods were in good order. I was to be charged $115 per hour for the move back in plus six weeks of storage which I did not owe. The total was $1300. After hours of upset I was threatened and sworn at on the telephone by the owner John Brown once again and told that if I did not pay they would take my goods away and not let me have them. They tried to run my debit card but my bank was alterted and called me.

So I had to get a cashiers check and even then All My Sons telephoned the bank to confirm it was not a fake insinuating to my bank that I was a bad credit risk and wrote bad checks. They tried insesantly to humiliate me. Eventually when they opened the truck the first sight was off a large cherry wood mirror stand smashed in two and then a mattress with the garden table and chairs unwrapped thrown on top of it. The mattress was stained and damaged.

As I unpacked I discovered a great deal of damage to my goods and missing items including the bottom two thirds of my christmas tree and the box it came in, my sons trampoline, the tiers to an antique onyx table and various other items.

Months later, BBB and so on have got no where at all. Not even seen a loss adjuster. Have taken them to small claims as lawyer said that the fees involved would be so great that I would be better off to go this route and get what I can back. Told NBC my story and they did a piece. Seems that they are just so smug about it. They left laughing after the mediation meeting failed, stating that the mattress was covered in urine and that I am just after money and I packed my goods myself and then made all this up!
