Ripoff Lost Everything It Took A Lifetime To Obtain

Don't let anyone selling you this product that it's the next best thing to happen in benefits/services.

In 2002 we abided by a contract to come current with out mortgage lender. Although the check was timely mailed and the funds were available the lender decided that they did not want to honor such deal.

They initiated foreclosure on our home. That's when the hero's at prepaid legal stepped in. They said don't worry this is a breach of contract and all will be resolved - that simple.

Of course it was not that simple. It was scheduled for pre-trial, than trial finally a year later. The attorney came all the way from Columbus, Ohio and just kind of forgot to bring the case file with a letter from the lender to establish this breach. Of course the lender had no idea of what this letter was or said and 'it therefore did not exist'.

Plaintiff and their attorney went into Judge's chamber along with our counsel from pre-paid legal while we were left sitting in the hallway. Shortly thereafter our pre-paid dimwit emerges from the Judge's chambers and requests to see a copy of the letter. It was stated to him that he has such and that we did not bring it with us. We told him that one of us would go home and get such but he stated that it was not necessary since the Judge was 'too busy today' and went back into chambers. He emerged about 20 minutes later. He stated 'default judgement' file for bankruptcy' and left. That was the last we heard from him. To add insult to injury they still have not refunded the $100 they demanded for copy fees.

We have lost everything - cars - home - credit rating but most importantly our dignity.

DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING FOR GRANTED. If someone ever approaches you regarding enrollment in pre-paid legal give them a copy of this complaint. I could have done significantly better and saved $26.00 a month instead of losing over $100,000.00 in the equity that was taken when they took our home at the sheriff's sale.
