Free Credit Report ripoff Deliberately misleading

My daughter has a credit card to use at college. A company called "CIC TRIPLE ADVANTAGE 877-481-6825 CA" hit the card twice on February 2 for $12.00 each time. I called my daughter to ask. She had no idea who they were. I googled the name and search results said its associated with "Free" credit reports. She says she did get a "free" credit report awhile ago and she doesn't understand these charges - it was supposed to be "free." She does not recall exactly how she got to this "free" credit report site, and doesn't recall receiving any email from them warning of any charges.
I went to "CICTripleAdvantage.com" and you are greeted by web page featuring a BIG CUTE PUPPY. It then links you to other sites - all the same - offering FREE credit reports. Big letters say FREE, but in smaller, not highlighted, shadowed grey print, it says you will be billed monthly if you do not cancel within 30 days.
My daughter is calling to cancel - we'll see what comes of it.
"CIC Triple Advantage" has other complaints posted on other web sites. Another company called "CIC Credit Monitoring" has complaints posted on web sites. I do not know if they are related. One CIC Triple Advantage link took me to a page advertising the "Experian" credit reporting agency logo. I do not know if that was an authorized use or not.
IMHO my daughter needs to be more careful and less trusting, and CIC Triple Advantage should be ASHAMED of using PUPPIES to emotionally disarm its customers, and ASHAMED of using greyed small print to HIDE the fact they hope you forget to cancel and that you will pay them $288 a year for no real benefit. IMHO enterprises like this are intentionally trying to deceive trusting persons and sucker them out of their money, and the average homeless vagrant alcoholic panhandler on the street is more forthright and therefor more honest.
