I purchased a "refurbished" Samsung SIR-T451 HDTV tuner from TVsDepot.com on 1/26/06. I received the unit at 5:30 PM on 1/31/06. The unit was dead on arrival; no output what so ever.

I immediately emailed customerservice@tvsdepot.com about the problem. I checked my email at 11 AM on 2/1 and had no response.

I called Samsung customer service and explained the delima. We discussed the problem and testing and they agreed the unit was inoperative.

I called TVsDepot customer service and spoke with "Danny".

TVsDepot advised that they would like an Samsung authorized facility to test the unit and asked me to contact Samsung for a local repair facility. I requested they replace the unit, but they balked and interjected "all that shipping back and forth".

I contacted Samsung for the second time and discussed the situation. They advised that their only repair facility was in Secaucus, NJ. I called TVsDepot, Danny, for the second time and advised him that the only repair facility was in NJ and the fact that I would end up picking up shipping for repair. I expressed my dismay at the fact they had not offered to replace the unit and pay return shipping of the bad unit.

After more wasted discussion, Danny had the unmitigated gaul to offer to sell me an extended service contract; yeah right.

I called Samsung again, to get a return authorization and express my dissatisfaction with their choice of vendors. Samsung processed my return after verifying the serial number of the unit. The odd thing was they did not have the serial number listed as a "refurbished" unit, but did show it was under warranty.in the end, it will be 3 weeks before the unit is returned in working order from Samsung.
