Ripoff took money and kept merchandise

I had been laying away merchandise with Edgewater Treasures for years and there were no layaway policies. Suddenly, when I had several layaways and had made over $1700 in payments on them, the store sent me a letter demanding payment in full or forfeit my money. I refused to pay in full and asked for a full refund of my money. The store refused and offered me one piece out of one of the layaways valued at less than $150. I refused. I filed a small claims suit against the store and travelled to Jacksonville, Florida for a pre-trial hearing. On the day of the trial (which was to be held over the telephone) the clerk made a mistake with the telephones and they were unable to get me on the telephone. Because of that, my case was dismissed. I didn't take it any further. Edgewater Treasures stole my money.
