Sprint PCS - Lockline
Total Ripoff

I have been a Sprint customer for a little over two years (28 months to be exact). I have 4 phones activated with the additional equipment insurance coverage provided by Lockline. I have paid $5.00 per month per phone for this coverage.in short, 28 months @ $20 = $560.00 (4 phones @ $5.00) plus $50 deductible = $610.00. I signed up for the equipment insurance coverage plan at the time I purchased the phones & signed the contract. My paperwork states a $35 deductible for lost/stolen phone replacement.

Low and behold, my son lost his phone two days ago. I called to have it replaced and was told it was now a $50 deductible (which Lockline swears they sent me USPS letter stating the price increase, which I did not get), so I said "fine", then they went on to tell me that it would be a "refurbished" phone and not the phone I had and it may not be a camera phone either (which was what I had).

All Lockline could tell me was that they "requested" a comparable replacement phone be sent from their warehouse. I stopped by the local Sprint store this afternoon and the sales rep there said it would have been cheaper for me in the long run if I had forgone the insurance coverage and just signed up for new service (a new 2 year contract) and I would have received a brand new camera phone with extra features for $55.00. Let's see, I would have saved $555.00 doing it that way. Needless to say, I am cancelling the insurance coverage as I feel that it is a BIG rip off for me. I suppose it is good to have if you lose your phone right away - my advice is to cancel insurance coverage after a year and most definitely after your contract expires and if you lose your phone just cancel the service (no cancellation fee as contract is up) and sign a new contract and get a brand new phone for less than what you would have paid for a refurbished phone using the insurance coverage.in a sense, I paid $610 for a refurbished telephone. I learned a lesson here. No more Lockline for me.
