Ticket Outlet Opens Two Hours After Concert Sales Begin

Robinson's-May is the only Ticketmaster contractor in our town. Their corporate policy is to open at noon, yet Ticketmaster releases the sales of certain concert tickets at 10 a.m. In our case, 10 people wanted tickets to an extremely popular concert that was sold out by noon, because Robinson's-May refused to open its ticket sales before noon. No one in our town had a chance of buying decent tickets, and some ended up with tickets behind the stage where there was no view.

I complained to the executive manager about not serving our community fairly and was told, "Too bad, you have other options, and we don't want to pay an employee to come in at 10 a.m. when the tickets went on sale." Yet when I got there at 10, the ticket lady was standing there doing nothing for 2 hours. Was she working for free? Some of us can't afford a long-distance call or don't have computers to buy tickets online, and Robinson's-May simply does not care.

We could drive 40 miles in either direction to another Ticketmaster outlet, but the 2 nearest ones are also Robinson's-May outlets and open at noon, which makes the trip useless. I contacted Ticketmaster, and they are both pointing fingers at each other, each saying it is the other's fault.

I have now applied for a protest permit, and since I don't have to work, I have all day to protest in front of Robinson's-May. I have 50 people going to picket this weekend in front of the store, and although it won't change the policy, it may upset some people. I figure if Rosa Parks could do it by herself, I can too. If Robinson's-May isn't here to serve our community, why do we need them here? We could put another store that cares about us in the building. I will spend every day I can discouraging people from shopping there. Their customer service is terrible!
