I will try to start from the top. It was a last minute move, so I was excited to find a company that would move me in such a short time period. They quoted me a rate of 120 an hour, which sounds steep, but I figured since it would be a three man crew and I was only moving a one bedroom apartment less than one mile down the road that it would not be bad. They arrived a half hour late, which means my elevator time is ticking. The "foreman" has me sign some forms and then asks me if I can watch the truck downstairs as they load it. Of course I watch the truck because my things will be in there.

I am alone downstairs watching the truck and time is passing, passing, passing and they are not bringing anything down. They brought down a few garbage bags of clothes (yeah i threw all my clothes in garbage bags) but after that nothing. I guess they just brought down enough to keep me occupied watching the truck.

I run back upstairs to see what the hold up is and they tell me its because they have to wrap everything, "nothing goes on the truck unwrapped." I told them that I desperately needed them to speed up to which the foreman replied repeatedly "just a few more minutes, just a few more minutes."

The wrapping entailed mummifying everything that went on the truck. There were layers and layers of shrink wrap covering every item. On top of the shrink wrap, there was cardboard, and on top of that there were blankets, all of which were taped down using rolls and rolls and rolls of tapes. They also claimed they used a ton of bubble wrap and carrugate wrap (i still dont know what carrugate wrap is). I didnt see any bubble tape or carrugate wrap and I certainly didnt see the book box they charged me for. Oh, they also double boxed some pictures I had so that they could charge me for 4 instead of two boxes. I guess such a short move wasnt profitable enough for them so they decided to spend hours using as much "supplies" as they could, so not only is the clock ticking but now they are charging me for supplies. At no time did I agree to their use of supplies, they didnt ask and if I would have agreed I sure as heck would not have agreed to $530.00 worth of shrink wrap and tape!!! Yes, $530.00 of my bill was for supplies I didnt approve. An entire move for a one bedroom apartment rarely costs $530.00, this is the amount they charged for "supplies."

Oh, I was presented with a sheet which listed the costs of different supplies before the move started. The "foreman" told me he just had to show me the sheet and I had to sign it acknowledging that he showed it to me. I did not know of course that this meant that he would proceed to use as much of those supplies as he pleased nor did the sheet say that this would happen. He wrote in the amount of supplies he used AFTER I signed the sheet, making up things as he went along.

Okay, after nearly four hours (this is a one bedroom apartment) I had to demand that they stop, take the heavy things down now and leave. I told them I would have to move the remainder by myself because they were just taking entirely too long. We drive less than a mile down the road to my new apartment, at which point they hand me a bill for 1200.00, letting me know that they could not begin unpacking until I paid. Of course, I was livid. I only had one hour for elevator time, so I couldnt even waste time arguing with them. Once my elevator time was up I had to give up the elevator because someone else was moving in after me. I paid them (well my friend paid them) and they proceeded to unload the truck.in the meanwhile, I called the cops because I knew that this price was unfair. The cops arrived and they basically told me that there is nothing that I can do because it was a completely civil matter. They advised me to contact consumer affairs and the Better Business Bureau. I let them know that I was not going to pay anymore money and I requested that they unload the entire truck and take the big things up because I was not going to pay for a single add'l hour of their work. I let him know that as long as my bed, dresser, and sofa made it upstairs, I could move everything else myself. The foreman replies, "oh sure, we will take everything off and take the big things up first." He further assured me that they would probably be able to take everything up in an hour because "unloading goes much faster."

Fast forward an hour, half the things are still on the truck including large items. He demands more money from me and I asked him "what's left?" The first thing he says is "the dresser." Of course, I say to him I asked you to bring the big things up first and you agreed to unload the entire truck and bring the big things up first and now you are telling me there is a dresser downstairs. I let him know that i wasnt paing him a dime more and that he needed to get the rest of my things off the truck.

He calls up someone on the phone and apparently he was told to take his blankets off the furniture he had already brought up and to leave with the rest of my things on the truck. I let him know that he was not leaving with my things and he said "I have orders." I immediately tell him to get out of my apartment that minute (which he refused) and told him that I was calling the police. I called the police AGAIN and let them know that the problem had escalated and that I needed someone to come out again.By the time the police arrived, which was about 15 minutes later, all of my things were off the truck, of course the movers knew they couldnt keep my things, but they were probably thinking that I didnt know my rights. They moved faster than they moved during the entire move after I told them I was calling the police. They lied to the police and told them they never refused to give me my things unless I gave them more money and that I was holding their blankets hostage. Yeah, right. The police again refuse to write anything down because this was a civil matter, but they did stay while the guys finished moving things in. After this all played out they left a bill at my door for additional money and let me know that if I didnt pay I would be sued. Sure, fine sue me you thief. To prove that they were criminals, instead of waiting to sue me, they used the credit card number that they already had on file from the earlier payment and went ahead and charged the additional fees. That was a crime plain and simple. They had no authority to charge additional money and did not receive a signature.

In total to move a one bedroom apartment from a building with an elevator to another building with a HUGE elevator, less than one mile, my bill was over $1500.00 dollars. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about this situation, I was cheated, the prices were gauged, they used materials that I never approved and never would have approved, they threatened to keep my things unless I paid them additional money, and then they stole money off of a credit card. Don't ever, ever use this company. Remember I had a ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT and I received a 1500.00 bill in the end and had to call the police twice.
