Ripoff disapproved a good check at Sears Tampa Florida

Went to Sears here in Tracy to buy an cross-trainer for my wife for Mother's Day.

Wrote the check out of the account that has $40k in it. The account is rarely used & only for large purchases.
Certegy declines it (Sears uses them as a check-verification). Why?

Well, if you want to find out, you just have to give them all of your bank account information, birthdate, drivers license number, and SSN.

Now, why does all this sound familiar? Oh, yea, that's how we get identity theft. Some company that had to change it's name (from Equifax Check Services) and get a P.O. Box, and won't let you talk to a human on the phone, and won't even let you know why your check was disapproved wants all your personal information.

So, I used the debit card for the same account & paid for it.

Strange that when I want my credit report, I just give my name, address, and ssn... Not all by bank account numbers, and I get my credit report.
