How I got my membership cancelled

I too fell for the "Free Sample" and was signed up for the 'membership' service. Unlike some, I was well aware of membership agreement that was attached to the sample.
My problems began when I tried to cancel the membership within the 10 day free trial period. You cannot do the online cancel without your order number (I had deleted the email), so I called the 1-800 number on the website. I was put on perpetual hold until my only option was to leave a message. No one contacted me within the 3 days that was indicated on the answering machine, so I tried calling again.
Frustrated, I checked out the website again and found their fax number. I faxed them a request to cancel and requested that they send me an email verification. I also mentioned that I had been on the BBB website and that I had found others in the same predicament, and that I would take action if my account was charged.
I called my bank right after I sent my fax since I wanted to make sure no money came out of my account, but they cannot stop payments from a checkcard (usually only on checks), and there was a charge for that. The only thing you can do is dispute the charges AFTER the company takes money from you. This was not an option, so I requested to cancel my account with them. They figured out a solution pretty fast, which was to cancel my check card and issue me a new one. Since Jevene had the wrong number, they wouldn't be able to charge my account.
In the time it took to get a new check card (15 minutes), I had an email from Jevene saying that my account had been cancelled. I was pretty impressed with the speed.
If you are having trouble getting in touch with them, send a fax. It doesn't hurt that you mention the BBB either (which in this case was the Usa Consumer Complaints.com).:)
Hope this helps. Peace.
