We feel taken advantage of by a photographer who will not refund our money for terrible service. We need our money back to afford a real photographer

Yolando Schorsch is a photographer in San Clemente, California. Her website is www.capturingtheessence.com. We hired her on an informal basis and paid her in advance for her services. She held an engagement photo shoot for us and they turned out badly. We also received the photos a week late so we were not able to use them as Christmas cards as originally planned. We also received a quote from another digital photographer that was more competitive and offered videographer services as well.

We decided to hire them instead because they had a legal contract and appeared to be much more professional. We requested our money back from Yolando Schorsch and she only offered to refund us $447.50. We paid her $1100.00 in advance. We would like to pay her for the engagement shoot (which according to her website is $150.00) We would like the balance refunded of $950.00. She never gave us anything in writing explaining her refund policies, but given the circumstances, we feel that we are owed our money back because she is obviously unable to perform the services promised adequately. My fianc and I are both students, and have a VERY limited budget for our wedding, and we feel that she has taken advantage of us and we just can not afford this dispute.

I want Yolando Schorsch to refund $950.00 of $1100.00 that we paid her. I'm happy to pay for the terrible engagement shoot because I think that is fair. Her website advertises $150 cost for an engagement sitting, and I'm happy to pay her that amount. We need the balance of $950.00 returned to us or we won't be able to afford a proper photographer.
