Showtime Casting
Ripoff fraud deceptive practice

Shops, Products, Services

Like so many people who responded to the ad in the local newspaper, I called the phone number to Showtime Casting/Entertainment ("Showtime") and inquired about the ad. Generally, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. I always remember this principle, but I was curious to see what this company had to offer me.

On September 30, I spoke to Ray House of Showtime about the ad. During our short conversation Mr. House assured me that I would be given a 30-day guarantee and, therefore, had absolutely nothing to lose by giving Showtime a try. I ended the conversation by informing Mr. House that I had to give it some thought.

The following day, on October 1, I called Mr. House back and advised him that I would give Showtime a try as long as I had the 30-day guarantee in writing. He again assured me that I had the guarantee, and referred me to the company's webstite. I gave him my credit card information, and I was charged $139.00 on that same date.

Several days later I received my user name and password. I sent the required photos to Showtime, as I was instructed to do by Mr. House. I checked out the website to see if this was for me. It was not.

On October 18, well before the expiration of the so-called 30-day guarantee, I called Mr. House and explained to him that I was not interested in Showtime. Mr. House assured me that I would receive a $139.00 credit through my credit card company.

Almost three (3) months have passed, yet I have not received my $139.00. On January 10, I, myself, along with an executive of Showtime and a representative of my credit card company, engaged in a three-way phone conference in an effort to resolve this problem. The executive from Showtime advised me to follow the procedures on the company's website in order to get my money returned. Although this was not what Mr. House had told me I would have to do, I followed his instructions. The website offers no such procedures.

At this point I am shocked and appalled about Showtime's fraudulent, corrupt, and unfair business practices. I intend to do whatever I can in order to redress this matter. It appears to me that Showtime has been engaged in unlawful practices for quite some time. I am somewhat surprised that the company has not yet been ordered to refrain from its unlawful practices.

A class action lawsuit needs to be initiated against Showtime as soon as possible. Does everybody who has been ripped off by Showtime agree with me? Everybody needs to contact the attorney general in Oceanside, as well as any other appropriate governmental agency, including your state senator and/or representative, and let your voice be heard loud and clear!

Sincerely,

Henry
