Took More Money From My Debit Card Than Originally Agreed. Won't Refund! City Of Industry

Shops, Products, Services

On December 10, I placed an order on HotTopic.com using the coupon code "HT10" that I had located on a few coupon websites (the code stated "no expiration date".) My confirmation receipt showed each item discounted 10%. My confirmation email from Hot Topic showed each item discounted 10%. The order history page in my HotTopic.com account showed the items discounted 10%. My total including sales tax was $198.20.

On December 11, I received an email stating two items were sold out. That brought my total to $183.84 including sales tax.

On December 13, I received an email stating the order had been shipped with the statement "Below is a copy of your original order information in detail." The order information they sent no longer reflected the 10% discount.

On December 15, I saw HotTopic.com had removed $204.27 from my checking account. I had used my debit card to pay for the transaction.

I called their Customer Service number. The rep I spoke to stated the coupon code expired "like 4 years ago or something" and therefore could not be used. I pointed out that the code worked just fine on their website. He said there was nothing he could do. I pointed out I had spent hundreds of dollars with Hot Topic in the past. He said there was nothing he could do. I asked to speak to a manager. The rep came back on and said if I had proof the Floor Supervisor (Janelle?) would "take care of it." I stated I had both the receipt and email confirmation printed out and would fax them right over. He confirmed my contact phone number and stated they would call me.

Following my phone call, I faxed the confirmations then check the order history page and saw the total to be $198.20.

It is now December 29 and I have heard nothing from HotTopic.com and they have not issued me a credit. They owe me $20.43.

A side note:
I went through the confirmations, receipts, etc. For an order I placed with them on November 22. I had used the "HT10" code. The initial receipt and confirmation reflected the discount but the shipping notification did not. I used my Visa for that purchase - they billed the ORIGINAL/correct amount to my Visa...? Interesting.
