November 23 I purchased a 1.5 tw carat, or so I thought, Levian chocolate diamond ring from Jared jewelers in Waldorf, MD. Two sales people sold me the ring. I was told it was one and a half total carat weight. Christmas came and my wife loved the ring. I told her the specifics and gave her the paperwork. We have paperwork stating it is 1.5 carats.
Approximately 2 weeks ago, we received an authenticity certificate from Levian. It states that the ring is 1 carat tw. I called Levian first to see if it was a mistake and they said it is indeed only one carat. I called Jared customer service and they again verified that it was only 1 carat. I explained how this was not what I was told, nor what our paperwork said, and all they could say was, "we apologize for the mistake." What?! You tell me I am buying a 1.5 carat ring when it's really only 1 carat and all you can say is "sorry?" I understand human error, but I was told by not one, but two sales people it was 1.5 carats and it is written on my paperwork. I based my decision to buy this ring on the information I was given. I have bought several pieces of jewelry from the Sterling corporation over the years. I'm not looking for something for free. I'm looking for them to make it right.
I then went to the store and was faced with the same thing. All they could offer was an apology. Not one time did anyone attempt to try to make the situation better. They offered nothing. They wont even take the ring back.
I feel I was misled. Whether it was an error or not, I feel that they need to fix the situation. That very well may be the price for the 1 carat. But I was told it was the price for the 1.5 carat and that is what I based my decision to buy on.
I feel this is terrible customer service. They pretty much told us oh well, sorry about that. So, here we are. If you could help in any way, we would greatly appreciate it.
