Ripoff, cheat, dishonest, taking advantage of a bad situation

This is basically an overpriced junk store in the Inlet Square Mall in Murrells inlet SC. I was in the store killing time and my daughter knocked over and broke a table. It was our fault. The table broke. It was cheap PLASTIC, but it was our fault.

It was a PLASTIC and metal boomerang table with neon lights in it. It is a very poor quality, doorm room looking table. It was (over) priced at $120. The girl said that she would "give" it to me at 20% off. I offered to give her my #. I asked her to see if she could sell it marked down and I would pay the difference between the selling price and the cost. She said no.

She insisted that I pay $97 to cover their cost for the table. I told her that I would be glad to pay their cost for the table, but that there was no way that was $97. I was trying to do what was right, so I wrote a check for $97. It was probably the only table they have ever sold.

My complaint is this: after paying for the broken table and bringing it home, I looked for it online. It was a clean break that could easily be fixed and not noticed as it was on the bottom of the table. I was hoping to be able to resell it and recoop some of my loss. The only place I found it was ebay, and no one would even buy it new in the box with free shipping at $79.

My point is this. Palmetto Studios took advantage of my bad situation by saying that $97 was the cost of the table to profit from my accident. I did break the table. I am not denying that, but having worked in retail for years, I know that sometimes there are times when you take a loss. But to try to profit from someone elses loss it terrible and dishonest.
