Boston Common Press
Cooks illustrated don't sign up for magazine or free website trial! They'll take your money even if you cancel the free trial

Shops, Products, Services

Ripoffs have already been documented with BBB and the FTC. Boston Common Press operates America's Test Kitchen, Cooks Illustrated and other publications. They bill for books you did not order. They also sell "free trials" for their online magazines. I signed up for a free trial of "America's Test Kitchen" website. They allow you to sign up for 14 days and cancel "at any time." I tried to cancel on the same day I signed up, and they wouldn't let me get in to the account., despite requesting my account password.

I kept entering the correct password and it wouldn't open the account. I contacted customer service asking them to cancel the account. They kept the account locked, despite me knowing the correct password and attempting to sign on. Finally, they charged my credit card since I was unable to cancel prior to the 14-day trial period end. They do not respond to requests for refund or cancellation. There are numerous complaints filed with this company already.
