Ripoff computer phone fraud overseas call for web site

Shops, Products, Services

It seems I am not alone with this, thankfully and sadly.

I just recieved today a "bill" from Premier Premium Communications for a 6 minute phone call to 44-207-335-84, a number in the UK, described as access to a pay-per-view web site.

I was understandibly intriqued and alarmed since I never visit pay-per-view sites and especially since that at the time of the alleged call I most likely would've been asleep! (And I live alone, so no, no one else would've been on-line at my home.)

While I see this company has a web site and a toll free number to call, the somewhat ominous tone of the bill gave me extreme pause in wanting to contact them directly without checking out their background and the nature of the UK phone number. I am very glad I did seeing that at least 3 other people have reported this company and the UK number in the last few days!

Unlike other people, I did not see a charge on my home phone bill, so the only evidence I have is in the form of the PPC bill.

They did not send me an e-mail and their web site makes YOU fill out all your information without THEM giving an e-mail adress upfront. The paper bill I recieved said to visit the web site for an e-mail address, which strikes me as suspicious, too.

I am going to contact my local phone company, SBC, and see if they have an evidence of an additional charge to my home phone account that I cannot see.

I see that someone has responded to 2 of the other complaints lodged by people already. I suppose I should feel lucky it was only $30... This time. And that's what I want to make sure of that this will not happen.
