Ripoff Fraudulent promotion used to lure new members then no delivery of promotional product

I clicked on an internet linked that offered a free digital camera for accepting a trial offer with Columbia House DVD. I joined solely for the purpose of getting the camera. It looked very nice, and I had planned to give it to my daughter as a gift.

I joined and received the initial shipment of the discounted DVD. I wrote them an email inquiring as to the status and specs of the digital camera. This was approximately one month after having joined. I was told by their customer service rep that the camera delivery could take up to 6-8 weeks.

I waited another four weeks before contacting them again.By this time, I had ordered one movie from the club. I contacted them again via email, and no reply except for customary email stating they had received my email and would reply within 48 hours.

Ten emails later and three phone calls, and still no answer as to the status of the camera. I told them that since they had failed to honor the promotion, I felt no further obligation to remain a member and wanted my membership cancelled. I have made three personal calls to their customer service requesting to speak to a manager. One was never available, and still they have refused to cancel my membership. I am forced now to instruct my credit card company to stop all payments to their business.

They are crooks, and I was duped into joining by fraudulent advertising and promotions.
