My wife is a comedian. She was contacted by Max and told she had been nominated for an award. She was very flattered and responded asking for more details. Max told her that she needed to give him $500 for her nomination. My wife declined but Max grew defensive, almost angry, saying that payola is very common in most awards shows.

What Max didn't realize is that he called someone who has a lot of experience with award shows. As an industry insider, I've worked these shows for over 15 years. Entertainers don't pay to be nominated, nor do they pay to win, or even present an award. My best friend has an Emmy sitting on his mantle right now that he did not pay for. He earned that Emmy with hard work and diligence.

This guy is a complete scam. Advice to all entertainers - STAY AWAY FROM MAX WORTHINGTON and the L.A. Comedy Awards.
