Charged my account after I cancelled

Thought I was purchasing 1 item, only to find out it was a subscription. Telephoned January 4 to Cancel and on bank statement of today, they charged me. I e-mailed them immediately to CREDIT my account as I had cancelled the item, which they said they shipped to me and which they DID NOT! I did not receive an acknowledgment via e-mail as they said they would do. I bought the item from a different Company
