On Sunday, April 18, officer Dave Johansen began an investigation of a subject passing bad checks. During the course of the investigation, 4 businesses have been identified as victims of this criminal activity. This subject presents himself as a "bishop" in an unidentified Christian church.

The suspect in this investigation was arrested later Sunday evening by our patrol officers. The suspect is identified as Keith Hairston, aka Darnell Harrison, 49, from Bakersfield.

Included in this enterprise, was the advertisement of a fictitious "Gospel Extravaganza" to be held at the Riverside Convention Center. Tis fictitious event had been announced for June 6. The suspect distributed several packets of tickets to be sold by area businesses. The businesses would keep a percentage of the sale price.

It is unknown at this time, how many business weere contacted to sell these tickets. The event is not going to occur and the tickets have no value.
