Golarge Records - Alonce Music Agency - CA2NY Music Media
Go Large Records - Alonce Music Agency - CA2NY Music Media Scam, misrepresent, swindle, rope, con, lie, falsify

Recreation & Entertainment

Go Large Records, aka GoLarge Records, Alonce Music Agency, CA2NY Music Media are all the same company. They are run by "Cali Sky" real name Jennifer, and Alonce, real name Michael. They charge up front, and do little or nothing. They also have a nasty habit of selling tickets online, for shows that they never come through on. They primarily troll myspace, looking to rope 30 something musicians who need that "one final push".

They post under a variety of aliases, and reference, at different times, these locations as their offices: 4001 Kennett Pike Suite 134-206 Wilmington, DE 19807... 1813 Ygnacio Valley Rd Walnut Creek, CA 94598... 15811 Ambaum Blvd SW Burien, WA 98166... And others in Ca, FL, Pa and elsewhere.

Beware this company. "Cali" aka Jennifer is very slick on the phone. They will not get you legitimate press, though they post on about 12 free press release sites, as their "pr push". They are also still claiming artists who have long ago left the fold, due to their scamming/incompetence/misleading statements/inaction.

The Annex in NYC, is at least one venue they booked, and no showed to. They are not above blaming their artists for canceled shows (to the venue)... Though those same artists may well be claimed later (as they still appear on golargerecords.com, in spite of having left), as evidence that they're doing well for people.

In a google search, complaints about the company are buried, under free press release posts (the only "pr" they do) by their many pseudonyms. Embarrassment, I imagine, keeps many artists from complaining publicly, when they split ways with golarge aka alonce aka CA2NY. I personally know three artists that were taken, and I myself was roped, to prop one scheme up.

There also appears to have been a charity event in NY in that they sold tickets for online as a for profit gig (with no mention of the charities, or numerous other bands/acts on the nights roster). The event was established by Tom Morello of Audioslave/Rage fame, and I'll be contacting them, to establish just whether or not, anyone was authorized to sell tickets online to that event. Let alone an unaffiliated, unlisted entitly associated with one of the opening acts only (The Drummer was Cali's Boyfriend)

From what I've found out, they often sell tickets online, for shows that never happen. Be very careful about who you give up front money to. If you're not retaining a music business lawyer... It's very unlikely someone legitimate, who sees your potential, will forgo a percent of your success, for some monthly hundred, or two hundred dollar payments.

Always read any contract carefully. Especially with up-front payment business models such as this. These two promise many things, and reference major media outlets, venues, and artists. The problem is, they don't arrange such gigs, and they're riding the coat-tales of what these artists have already done, without Go large aka Alonce aka CA2NY.

You'll be promised the earth, but when you complain that there are no gigs, and no income return, you'll be told the money was for press, not gigs. This is a pattern that's been repeated again and again. A loose affiliation of agents/producers have been looking into this "company" and pattern is prevalent.
Beware.

"Cali Sky" (google search it, and you'll see why she chose that name, buried under pics/tales of the Cali Sky as in California Sky) is a professional at conning artists, and one of the slickest people on the phone, that you're likely to (never) meet. Cali aka Jennifer and Alonce aka Michael target 30-something musicians who already make money, and are busy, in general (and hearing the clock tick, as it were).

They promise to take up the strain, of pr/booking/mgt etc... But the only consistent thing they've ever done, is take people's money, and then leave them where they were when they started... And promote themselves (GoLarge, Alonce, CA2NY) using a misrepresentation of both what they do for artists, and what they've achieved in the past. For said artists.

On myspace.com/golargerecords pics, there are a series of "tours" from 2008 that never happened. There are gigs that never happened. The Union Skate Park tour kickoff gig, and the Annex are two of several, it seems.

Should you have had a negative experience w / Golarge records aka Alonce music agency, aka CA2NY music media... Please don't hesitate to post it/them here. Victim shame keeps these people in business, because many an artist is afraid to get in an online pi*ing contest, and distract from his/her career. Or even publicly admit to have been fleeced.

We're well used to people taking advantage, and it's almost par for the course. The difference here, is that this company violates rights of publicity, by claiming artists they have no right to represent (they are one company, two people. The exception being the occasional staff that they set to work, and then not pay)... And outright cons musicians.

They resort to badmouthing their marks afterward, using aliases online. They bully, belittle, redirect, and confuse any attempts to complain publicly about them, and their practices.

At least one producer has had the same experience of working, with subsequent refusal to pay (or answer/return calls). Once the game is up, you cease to exist to them, or they to you.

One artist (whom I know personally) called to complain and was told "Cali Sky" had left the company. An alias leaving the company, doesn't change the scam, or the principles in it. Take great care in choosing who you hire, and run, with great speed... From this lot.

I have two investors that have put up-front money for my band, and all my agents work on commission (15%). The industry isn't changed completely, and scamsters like Go Large aka Alonce aka CA2NY account for many of the people saying that it has (at least to the degree that they claim. They assume you don't know).

If you need to hire a studio, fine. Lawyer, yes. Try, however, to avoid paid mgt/promo deals, that are not on commission. They remove the financial incentive for the person to do anything at all, for you, except charge you money.

Who knows how many dozens (or hundreds) of artists GoLarge has taken advantage of? This is the internet age, and cons of this scale should not be allowed to quietly perpetuate.

Again, please comment on your experiences. I'll have the artists I know to have been scammed, do the same.

DISCLAIMER: There is one band, that they appear to have done things for. The drummer is Cali's boyfriend. He posts online under various aliases, to belittle people who complain about them, but whether or not he's in on the "game" remains to be seen. He may simply be irretrievably stupid, or a player in the "game", or just angry on the int3rnets, what's factually evident, is that he assists knowingly or unknowingly, in perpetuating this scam (he's admitted on at least one forum, to the relationship). Google search "Go Large records scam" for more information, on other threads/forums.

DISCLAIMER: I have a band, and book bands, and it's always on commission. Put up or shut up still rules, in the music business. Happy playing people... And take care.
