During the process of purchasing tickets through MOVIETICKETS.com, the hook was offered but blended into the tickets purchase to make it seem it was part of the purchase offer. This is the e-mail I sent to this website after I found out they were not willing to remove charges I did NOT authorize to be placed on my credit card.

"Trying to use your site to use the "supposed" discount only kept leading me to more and more links. There was NEVER any conclusion to the "so called" discount service you were offering. ALSO, on any of the pages that kept linking me to there was NO INDICATION of charges placed on my credit card if this service was not used.By you not removing those charges has indicated to me your company is not one to be trusted to do business honestly. I am not happy. I AM COPYING THIS E-MAIL TO THE BBB AND ANY SCAMING REPORT SITES THAT I CAN FIND."

The reply:

We try to make our offer as clear as possible and we apologize for any concern you may have experienced.

Our records show that on XXXXXX you or someone in your household completed an online transaction with MovieTickets.com. After your transaction you were offered and accepted a membership in Shopper Discounts & Rewards. Immediately next to the offer the Offer Details were displayed which included the agreement that we could bill the fee to the credit card you used for your transaction with MovieTickets.com.

Again, my reaction to this:
The fee you are describing was understood as to be the charges for the tickets and the fee for providing this service (a single charge). NOT the $24.00 per month that was explained on the phone. This is where your company is sneaking into our pockets undetected until we have to call and fight to get our money back. Any discounts taken locally will be eliminated by your fee process when consumers decide to tighten their belts and not spend because of economic changes, like $4.00 a gallon gas.

There is no work on your part to earn this fee. Computers do your work.
Start doing business CLEARLY. Make ALL charges BOLD and in plain english. STOP the incessant links. Your reaction to that, I know, will be "we'll loose considerable income if we start being honest and clear".

Finally (ONLY after e-mailing them I had contacted usacomplaints.com):
When a misunderstanding occurs we are more than willing to cancel the memberships and provide a refund. These membership have been cancelled and we have issued two refunds of $12.00 each for the membership fees you were charged. These credits should be posted to your credit/debit card account within 3-5 business days.
