This company failed to pay me and others - I am owed $800

Recreation & Entertainment

I worked for OnlineTickets.com as a promotional spokesmodel. I'm sure you have seen us around, we're the girls who give out free stuff and hand you a sale flyer about the company so that you will use the company we represent. I've worked for more than fifty companies and every other company I have worked for has been reputable, used contracts, paid and has not been unprofessional.

As for myself, I am a hard worker. I work in promotional marketing because it allows me to work around my school schedule. I was a broadcast journalist for four year in the Marine Corps, but I have changed my field to International Affairs and so in a sense I am starting over at the bottom again...

OnlineTickets.com was staffed by James Kirksey when I worked for them on a tour bus in Florida in early 2007. I worked for them during Bike week in Daytona and it was clear Mr. Kirskey had no idea how to manage a promotional team. He was paying in cash, letting the girls behave unprofessionally (drinking with them on the job) and of course he was not using staffing contracts.

I made some recommendations to him and after being paid in cash for week one of the promotion he hired me to book and manage girls from then on for subsequents weeks of the promotional tour. I agreed. I drew up contracts, I interviewed and booked girls, and I managed them over the phone when needed, since I could not be on location and Kirksey was there with them. I spent hundreds of dollars on the phone bills and faxing. I spent many hours drawing up contracts, recruiting and managing. I have hundreds of emails to prove all of this. The bottom line is that I managed for him for three weeks, almost full time. I did everything we discussed and more and expected to be paid at the rate we discussed.

I gave him a serious break on what he owed me. I did not include all the expenses I had along the way. I was owed 1000 dollars and I got a check for 200. I was then told that was all they would pay me. I spoke to Judy Sultan at the company. She was the Houston office contact. She seemed like a nice lady, but she worked for crooks and ultimately had to stay out of it when it got ugly. I have met the owner of OnlineTickets.com. He is the man who asked me to do the booking for him and I toured with James Kirsksey. He looked like a smart, reputable man when I met him, but obviously I misjudged. I still have all the proof of everything I did and these jerks refused to pay me for time worked.

I learned a valuable lesson. I drew up contracts for the company and made everything legit for them, but didn't draw one up for myself. I trusted them, and that was a huge mistake. At one point, James said he would pay me out of pocket if the owner of OnlineTickets.com did not come around about paying me. That never happened.

I could fight this at the time, because of an unfortunate medical circumstance. After working for the company for three weeks I discovered I had cancer and had to put my attention on surgery and healing. I did follow up with the company, repeatedly and I told James I was sick, but they refused to pay and I simply couldn't take up the battle at the time. I believe they felt they could get away with it, because they knew I was too sick at the time to go to court with them about it.

I am healthy now and very angry with OnlineTickets.com. They acted unprofessionally with me and several other marketing models later down the line. Girls I hired later told me they weren't paid or were treated very poorly. I still have all their contact information and I am sure they would still collaborate the behavior of the people running OnlineTickets.com.

I would seriously recommend to anyone never to work for that company. I ask that you not buy tickets from OnlineTickets.com because they have behaved so badly in business. Their moral code is worthless, and I can't believe they took advantage of me when they knew I was sick and wouldn't be able to do anything about it. Their actions were very sleazy, please do not support this company with your patronage.
