Ripped off on "free" trial through Dish Network Internet

In August I called and ordered Dish Network - the salesman told me he wanted to give us a free One week Blockbuster Online trial and proceeded to name movies that he would have sent for the trial. On these calls one is taking in a LOT of information so it gets confusing.

I assumed that since he had names of movies and said he would have them sent to me that I would receive them and then be able to cancel - assumed the membership would start then. I never received anything by mail - was getting emails saying my "cue" needed attention but this made no sense since I didn't receive the ones in the phone conversation.

So I had no idea they would start charging me $19.95 a month - my husband paid the first month's credit card bill and didn't notice the charge so I didn't know. When I found the charge I checked online and realized I had been charged for a second month also. I called blockbuster and explained that things didn't happen as I expected and that I wanted to cancel and be refunded. They refused to refund the nearly $40 they had charged me for which I had received NOTHING. I could have gotten a weeks movies and they wouldn't have received anything.

Naturally I would have cancelled had I known but since I never received movies as per the phone conversation I figured it had not started so I just ignored it since I didn't really care about getting the movies anyway.

I also contacted Dish Network and they said they would "listen to the tape" - they have done nothing either. And now when I email them concerning this they don't even answer me!

So - Blockbuster likes to keep money from people they have provided nothing for - that's really good customer relations! And Dish Network refuses to get back to their own customers or help them either when it was their sales person that told me wrong! I have health concerns and arguing with them gets me too upset so I've just let it go. If I knew the address of someone higher up then the so-called customer service reps you get when you call I would write to them.

This should serve as a warning to those that are offered this "free trial".
