There was a leak in the apartment over mine. I noticed the water on the walls in my bathroom, closet and the utility closet the evening of 1/7/09. I filed a request for service on this problem that evening, and the person in the office tried to reach maintenance, but never received a call back. No one had come to check on it by 10:30 AM on 1/8/09, so I called the office. They sent someone, who attended to the leak in the utility closet, but nothing was done in my bathroom or closet. I stayed at my parent's house since I couldn't use my bathroom, and the smell in the bedroom was overpowering. I returned on Saturday to check repairs to my closet and bathroom. A roommate told me that when the guy came back to check on the utility closet, she asked him about my bathroom & closet & her knew nothing about it. He then went and got a dehumidifier for my closet. The repairs weren't started until Monday, 1/12/09. They pulled the strip hanging from the ceiling down, said they used a mildew inhibitor & were painting over the water marks. I can only see where they painted the ceiling. Nothing was done to the walls in the bathroom, or the closet. I am concerned about mold and mildew, and since I have asthma, I can't stay in an apartment that has that possibility. The management won't even listen to my request for a reduction in my rent for this month, since I wasn't able to stay in the room for a week. This is the worst apartment building for maintenance and management. They don't care and blow things off. I know they had some leaks over the summer, and moved the people in those apartments to other vacant apartments. Since there are no vacancies, this option wasn't offered to me. I have had to drive back and forth for over a week, due to the repairs being done in my bathroom. I would love to get out of my lease, and will not be renewing for another year.
