We offered full price for a fanne mae homepath home that was listed with new carpet, a new roof and paint inside and out. When we viewed the house the "new roof" had leaked and damaged the carpet. At the time we submitted the offer we stated the roof and carpet needed to be fixed. The sellers agent stated they were working with the roofing contractor to fix the roof and replace the carpet.
During the inspection mold was found due to the water damage from the roof. The new roof was the wrong roofing application for a flat roof and cannot be repaired... The exterior of the house had not been painted, it had been touched up where there was stucco damage... And the list goes on. When we presented the findings to the selling agent to find out what the status of getting the contractor to correct the deficiencies, they stated we should walk away and that they were not going to correct the problems. We have submit a request for repairs or a price reduction to take the house in the as is condition.
They have not responded to our offer... Per the agent they just want us to pull out, which is kind of hard since we sold our home and have no other prospects in the area we are relocating to...

Does Fannie Mae have actual "people" that work for them? Do they actually want to sell houses? Is there anyway to actually talk to someone?
