Stroller brakes stopped working and PP refused to replace or repai

We purchased the Peg Perego Si stroller for our baby in fall 2010.By summer of 2011 the brakes were no longer consistently working. Twice the stroller with baby inside began to roll with the brakes activated toward the subway tracks while I was waiting for a train.

I called the customer service on the website and was told there was nothing they could do. I emailed the problem and was given the name of someone in another city who "may" be able to repair it. I think a stroller company should stand by it's product's safety and immediately replace a stroller that is a cause of danger for a child.
