I have had to use Florida Hospital twice for medical emergency for my spouse. This created an unexpected medical debt. I am on a fixed income due to disability so it will take time to pay off this debt. What Florida Hospital has done on two occasions is sell or turn over our debt to, "City National Bank" who then turned the debt into a revolving charge account applying interest, late fees and other penalties associated with a revolving charge account which we still don't totally understand as nothing was ever explained or agreed upon accepting any such arrangement.

As the balances were separate on two accounts and being paid down, Florida Hospital and City National Bank combined the two accounts creating a large balance with a greater amount to pay on the minimum payment due! These tactics are oppressive, burdensome and unfair trying to make a profit at a time when money is scarce due to illness. This is not like a car or furniture payment which I selectively chose to impose upon myself.

A debt that would take a reasonable amount of time to pay off now grows into a black hole sucking the life out of what ever budget we may have had to put aside for other emergencies that would arise at a later time and lining the pockets of those who could care less of our personal struggle! I would like to know is this legal???
