Pennsauken Township in NEW JERSEY A Township that rips off the residents during the summers hot months!

Summer began to beat down on us with heatwaves so i decided to go to my local walmart and get a simple above ground pool ('10 x30') and put it up for my 3 children. Three weeks later I get a notice to remove the recent construction that I had put up without a permit or I would be fined $10,000. Hunh, I did not construct anything without a permit, so I called and found out it was my pool and was told I would have to come in and get a permit and have my home inspected before I could sert up my pool. OK, no problem. After going to the Municipal Township building I was told that I needed all type of electrical work that would cost me around $3000 to set up my $48.99 pool for my three children? I asked why do I need all this electrical work done on the outside of my home if I only want to set up for a few days empty out and then refill when it gets really hot and I do not want all the extras and they have battery operated filters I can use. I was told this was how it had to be done and then was shoved a list of preferred contractors and then told that I could get a membership to the township pools. So i said, ok how much are the meberships and was told $632.50 for my husband and I, and $80.00 for each of my children which would cost my husband and I a total of $872.50. With three children in catholic school, Karate camp this is something we cannot afford. A real ripoff the Township has forced on its residents which has made me contruct a virtual pool/playland in my garage for my children which inspectors CANNOT SEE when they come snooping around the neighborhood to notate any viloations (they can do this but cannot make sure the trash, leaves gets picked, typically the trash men will purposely leave a bag and if you are home you have to chase them down and the act like they did not see it or like me take it to my place of employment and they have let me put my bags not picked up by my township trash in their dumpster! Even though I am paying taxes for Pennsauken) and my three children will get to swim in their own personal pool. What a slap in the face from the administration to the wonderful people of Pennsauken Township!
