Book Club Threatened with delinquency notices cancellations ignored books returned feeling ripped off and taken advantage

I thought I was doing a good thing for my school district by ordering books through their book club which in turn they receive free school supplies and/or books... Boy, was I wrong!

I made the mistake of ordering the Barbie book club for my 6 year old daughter. We received 4 books and a Barbie book bag. I thought the price was resonable. Unfortunately, I am sorry I made such a mistake.

After receiving the books I descovered the reading level was too dificult for my daughter and decided to cancel. When I received my next shippment I kept the books, paid the amount due, and wrote cancel in bold letters across the bill.

The following month I received another shippment and did the same. When I received a fourth shippment the month following I was annoyed writting return to sender and returning it to the post office.

It was my understanding that no furhter purchase was necessary and I could cancel at any time. But, apparently I was wrong because they continued to ship their products after writing cancel and return each shippment.

After looking over the bill with a fine tooth comb, I could not find a number to contact customer service. The only contact I had was via the post office and that wasn't working.

To my amazement, I received a notice from Groiler stating we were past due on our bill and if we did not make payment immediately, we would be sent to their collection company.

I was outraged and tried to find another way to contact them. As many others have found, their web site is for making payments and purchasing more items but has very little to do with customer service. They did however, have an e-mail which I contacted twice and didn't get as much as a respectful reply.

After searching the internet, I found this site, consumer complaints.com and found it very useful. I also had a sense of relief that I wasn't alone.

I contacted the number, 1-800-353-3140, usacomplaints.com.Com made available and according to Groiler's customer service my account has been taken care of and our balance is 0. I'm not going to hold my breath. I will wait to see if I receive another bill or shippment next month. I'll keep you updated if I do.
